Grand Valley State University. The Department of Sociology and the Environmental Studies program at GVSU seek candidates for an assistant professor, tenure track academic year position, with specialization in Environmental Sociology to begin August 6, 2019. Ph.D. in Sociology or related field with specialization in Environmental Sociology. ABD candidates will be considered for a two year contract with provision that your Ph.D. must be completed by December 2020. Substantive focus on water resources and issues preferred. Applicants should expect to teach courses on Environmental Sociology and Social Problems as well as courses in the Environmental Studies program. Security Staff (Temporary) - Department of Public Safety Services Grand Rapids
Perform duties that will insure the safety and welfare of the individuals that learn, work, and visit the Pew Campus and Regional Centers. This includes patrolling the campus buildings and grounds. Affiliate Faculty - Biomedical Sciences (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) Allendale
This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track renewable position. We are seeking someone to teach anatomy and/or physiology undergraduate courses. Affiliate faculty teach between 12 to 15 contact hours per semester, often a mixture of laboratory and lecture courses. The initial appointment for is for one-year beginning fall 2019, followed by a possible second year appointment in 2020. Thereafter, affiliate faculty are eligible for continuously renewable three-year contracts.
Affiliate Faculty Advertising/Public Relations - School of Communcations (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) Allendale
The School of Communications at Grand Valley State University seeks applicants for a 9-month, full-time, Affiliate Faculty position in the Advertising/Public Relations program to begin January 2019. Individuals will be appointed for one academic year on a full-time basis. The initial appointment may be renewed once for an additional academic year, followed by three-year terms pending successful review.
Assistant Professor - Spanish (College of Liberal Arts and Sciences) Allendale
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Spanish: The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Grand Valley State University invites applications for a full time tenure-track faculty position in Spanish, with experience teaching Spanish language, familiarity with ACTFL standards, and a specialization in Second Language Acquisition or Applied Linguistics. Focus on second language literacies or writing and experience with K-12 education programs a plus. The nine-month position is at the assistant professor level to begin in the fall of 2019. Native or near native fluency in Spanish and English required. Ph.D. in hand preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered for a two year contract with provision that your Ph.D. must be completed by December 2020. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to teach all levels of Spanish language courses and will contribute actively to the Spanish Secondary and Elementary Education programs. Scholarly and professional activity expected, university and department service also required. Must demonstrate a commitment to a balance among undergraduate teaching, scholarship, and service. Project Manager for Groundswell - Center for Educational Partnerships (College of Education) Grand Rapids
Groundswell is a coalition of community partners with a mission to develop and maintain active school-based community partnerships inspiring lifelong environmental stewardship with a focus on the Lower Grand River Watershed in West Michigan. The project manager works in the Center for Educational Partnerships in the College of Education. The primary responsibility is to manage multiple activities for the Groundswell initiative including event planning, teacher recruitment, professional development, classroom project support, fundraising, and grant reporting/documentation. Additional duties include: work with principal investigators and other grant staff to successfully meet the goals and objectives of grants that support Groundswell; identify, foster, and support school-community partnerships; coordinate work of advisory boards, councils, and other governance entities; and assist in sustainability efforts for the Groundswell initiative. This project manager must be able to take initiative and leadership for community-based activities, and be able to work in a dynamic, flexible and deadline-driven environment. This is a temporary position funded through grants that close June 30, 2019.

Assistant Professor (Geospatial Ecologies/Watershed Modeler) - Annis Water Resources Institute Muskegon
The Robert B. Annis Water Resources Institute (AWRI) of Grand Valley State University is seeking a geospatial ecologist/watershed modeler to complement the existing Faculty and Principal Investigators at AWRI. A Ph.D. is required; postdoctoral experience is preferred. The selected candidate will have a demonstrated record of: conducting quality research; obtaining extramural funding for research and publishing findings in the peer-reviewed scientific literature; ability to teach graduate courses in field of expertise; and desire to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. Teaching responsibilities include advanced courses in the applicant’s area of expertise. Faculty members also advise undergraduate and graduate students, serve on academic committees, and perform community service. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position with benefits.
